About an hour’s drive from Bologna and Florence lies a splendid area spanning about 5,000 hectares: the Corno alle Scale Regional Park. Lovers of outdoor sports can enjoy classic and unusual activities in every season, including paragliding at Monte Pizzo and field archery. The area, offering a variety of mountain views, is linked by a network of marked trails, mountain huts and bivouacs. Unmissable hikes lead to the Dardagna Waterfalls and the Valley of Silence. The Sanctuaries of Madonna dell'Acero and Madonna del Faggio, known for their evocative setting within the Park, add a spiritual touch to the experience. For winter sports enthusiasts, the area hosts a renowned ski resort in the Corno alle Scale district, with its 36 km of downhill slopes, cross-country routes and areas dedicated to snowboarding. The highest peak is Corno alle Scale, reaching 1,944 metres. The park also offers many marked routes by the CAI, including the Alta Via dei Parchi, inviting long walks on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike. However, what truly makes the park experience unique are the simplicity and warm welcome of the local communities.
